Biocodex Microbiota Foundation 2026

Gut microbiota & human digestives diseases (applicable to both pediatric and adult populations)

Introduction

The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation (BMF) awards an annual Research Grant in countries where Biocodex operates, to support scientists conducting research on gut microbiota and human health. In 2026, Vietnam officially joins the program, with the Vietnam Pediatric Association (VPA) taking the scientific lead, in coordination with Biocodex Vietnam and BMF. The Scientific Committee – Biocodex Grant 2026 is pleased to announce the program and cordially invites eligible scientists and research organizations to submit applications.

Scope and type of funding

  • Field: gut microbiota and human digestive diseases, applicable to both pediatric and adult populations.
  • Type of funding: scientific research projects (basic, applied, or clinical research) directly related to gut microbiota. The Grant does not fund training activities, conferences/workshops, or the purchase of equipment alone when not tied to a specific research project.

Eligibility criteria

  • The project leader must belong to a legally recognized research/medical institution in Vietnam. Only candidates holding a PhD, PharmD or MD are eligible.

Grant amount

The total amount of the grant is 20 000 € for the whole project (no matter whether it is 1 or 2 years) and the maximal accepted duration of the project is two years.

Timeline

  • Application period: July 2026.
  • Submission deadline: before 5:00 PM on 30 September 2026. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
  • Announcement of results: October 2026, via email to applicants and on the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation official communication channels. The announcement will also be relayed through the official communication channels of the Vietnam Pediatric Association (VPA) and the Vietnam Association of Gastroenterology (VNAGE).

Scientific committee and evaluation criteria

Eligible applications are independently evaluated by the Review Committee — composed of reputable scientists in the fields of Gastroenterology and Pediatrics in Vietnam — based on the following criteria: relevance to the topic of gut microbiota; scientific quality; originality and creativity; benefit to human health; the researcher's competence; the quality of the research environment; and the feasibility of the project.

Application file and submission method

The application must be prepared in accordance with the structure and form provided in the Appendix – Application Form attached to this notice, written in Vietnamese, and compiled into a single PDF file, named according to the following structure: Project Leader's Full Name_Organization Name_Application_2026. Each project leader may submit only one (01) application for the 2026 grant cycle.

Acknowledgement obligations

The grant recipient is responsible for acknowledging BMF's support in all scientific publications, conference presentations, or communications related to the project, using the following mandatory statement (to be kept in its original English wording, not translated): "This work was (partially) supported by the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation." The grant recipient is also responsible for submitting a final report within 6 months of project completion, following the template guidance provided by the Committee and BMF.
